Description: The City of Turin has joined the "School adopts a monument" initiative, a project within a national network with the aim of involving students in the enhancement of local historical, artistic and cultural heritage. The city of Turin is characterized by the presence of numerous cultural assets that are little known for various reasons. Through the implementation of the project, the City of Turin intends not only to raise awareness among young people about the preservation of cultural heritage, but above all to ensure that tomorrow's citizens take an interest in cultural heritage and be its first conscious custodians. The initiative aims to involve schools in an operation to promote knowledge of cultural heritage by taking into consideration even those assets considered minor that are more exposed to degradation but are an integral part of the historical fabric of every urban center.
Location: The project is developed in the city of Turin (IT).
Period: 2017-2019
Partners: Comune di Torino (IT) and following schools: Istituto Comprensivo A. Cairoli, Istituto Comprensivo P. Frassati, Istituto Superiore Gobetti-Marchesini, Liceo Berti (IT).
Users contribution description: As part of the Turin project, FirstLife platform was used by students to map lesser-known city monuments, enriching the content with photos, stories and insights produced by themselves. FirstLife thus stands as a tool for public restitution of the work accomplished, bringing the entire citizenry closer to the historical memory of these places
