Description: What public spaces does the city dedicate to teenagers? What places respond to their interests and in what ways does the area manage to shape itself taking into account their needs and desires? These are some of the fundamental questions that the Piano Adolescenti –Città di Torino (City of Turin's Adolescent Plan) wanted to answer through the "TeenCarTo" project, a participatory mapping that featured boys and girls from Turin schools. The mapping was geared to highlight the places experienced by adolescents in their daily lives, the spaces where they develop their networks of relationships at formal and informal levels, actively participate in community initiatives, or of which they want to report local issues for which they consider it a priority to take action in the future. Among the elements that have been mapped are: aggregative spaces, places of youth meeting, music and art groups places, youth associations, craft workshops, community gardening and environmental actions, GAS, FabLab workshops. Participatory mapping of resources, activities and critical issues in the area was carried out through the open source platform FirstLife, with the training support of tutors from the Department of Cultures Politics and Society.
Location: The project is developed in the city of Turin (IT).
Period: 2016-2017
Partners: Dipartimenti di Culture Politica e Società – Università degli Studi di Torino (IT), Dipartimento d’Informatica – Università degli Studi di Torino (IT).
