Public Toilet Of Thought
Description: The Public Toilet of Thought was created as an experiment somewhere between research and art, to explore how people would respond to the challenge of expressing and sharing feelings and experiences about the pandemic. Social estrangement, a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic, has exacerbated the social isolation of contemporary metropolises, so the Public Toilet Of Thought aimed to create a symbolic space of reconnection between different groups and communities within neighborhoods, contributing to a sharing process in which the physical space of the city would feed our social imaginary with thoughts, narratives, sounds, and images.
Location: Public Toilet Of Thought is a portable urban equipment which we installed in different areas of around Athens (GR).

Partners: The project emerged through the partnership of the following organizations: The Image, Sound and Cultural Representation Lab (ISCRL) (GR), the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication (University of the Aegean) (GR) and the Open Lab Athens (GR) and the Ludd Lab (GR). It is supported and funded by the Actors of Urban Change 2019-2021 program.
Users contribution description: Users can contribute with thoughts through the “Box for Expression”. The “Box for Expression” project is an installation that supports storytelling and sharing experiences in publics spaces of the city. It is a small scale modular/mobile infrastructure that can be installed in different parts of the city of Athens depending on the needs of each action.
