oVRheid
Description: oVRheid is a pilot project resulting from the collaboration between the Howest University of Applied Science and Arts and the Flemish government. Two Flemish government departments, the Agentschap Natuur & Bos and the Departement Mobiliteit en Openbare Werken, were given a research budget to collaborate and think about an innovative demonstrator that could change the way of communicating with citizens about planned major structural projects and how to improve the participation of citizen feedback at an earlier stage of these projects. As part of this pilot project, it was tested whether and how virtual reality could be used to help visualise planned infrastructure works or rezoning in an immersive and informative way.
Location: The pilot project was tested in Doel near the city of Antwerp.
Period: Ongoing
Partners: Vlaams agentschap Natuur & Bos (BE), Departement Mobiliteit & Openbare Werken (BE) and the Howest University of Applied Science and Arts (BE).
Users contribution description: Users can provide timely feedback by filling in a questionnaire and communicating their preferences in advance through virtual reality technology.
